This post presents a research abstract (attached below as a word document) which will outline the statistical theory behind the Regulatory Compliance Scale. It shows how moving to an ordinal model increases the sensitivity of regulatory compliance data distributions. Several examples drawn from other data sets are provided. This abstract should be helpful for licensing researchers and regulatory scientists as they test out the Regulatory Compliance Scale within various jurisdictions.
